Why should you visit Skanda Vale Temple Mahakali Temple South Wales ?
Skanda Vale is a non-denominational spiritual centre and monastery located in Carmarthenshire, Wales, near Llanpumsaint. Founded in 1973 by Guru Sri Subramanium, it is run by the Community of the Many Names of God, which also oversees Somaskanda Ashram in Switzerland. Emphasizing practical spirituality centered on devotion and selfless service, Skanda Vale blends Hindu traditions with Franciscan Christian values, making it a unique pilgrimage site for diverse spiritual communities. The monastery is funded entirely by donations and is registered as a charity in the UK.
History
The Maha Shakti Temple, also known as the Maha Kali Temple, features a stunning six-foot-tall murthi (sacred image) of Maha Kali, complemented by shrines dedicated to Lakshmi, Pattini, Saraswati, Mother Mary, and others. Inaugurated in 1991 by Guru Sri Subramanium on the Divine Mother’s direct instruction, the temple began receiving her remarkable daily appearances in 1986. Puja ceremonies are held daily at 06:30 and 18:00, with the temple closed during all other hours.
Visiting
Weekend Passes
The temple has limited seating for only 50 people. From May to September, we issue free passes on a random basis each Saturday to ensure everyone has a fair chance to enter. Passes are distributed at 15:00 outside the Yaga Sala (where lunch is served).
If you don’t receive a pass, don’t worry! We provide ample seating with a sound system and video screens, and the temple remains open until every pilgrim has had darshan and aarthi.
