History
West Midland Safari Park, opened in 1973 near Birmingham, spans 80 hectares and offers a unique blend of wildlife and attractions. Guests can drive through a 6km safari, where free-roaming African and Asian animals wander near the cars. Home to over 100 species, the Park also features a pedestrian area with animal talks, an African Village, Discovery Trail, Ice Age and dinosaur exhibits, and an Adventure Theme Park with rides for all ages, plus a play area for younger visitors.
West Midland Safari Park offers the ultimate family adventure with its incredible mix of wildlife, thrilling theme park rides, fascinating exhibits, and luxurious lodges and cottages. Enjoy a self-drive safari in your own vehicle, where you can even feed some animals and drive through as often as you like. Alternatively, book a guided minibus tour. Explore the Discovery Trail with Lorikeet Landing, Penguin Cove, Sea Lion Shows, and more. Safari Drive-Through
Explore a four-mile self-drive safari, home to some of the world’s most beautiful and endangered animals. Divided into African and Asian areas, most of the animals roam freely, often walking right by your car.
Ice Age
Continue the prehistoric adventure in the UK’s largest Ice Age exhibit, a multi-sensory experience with immersive time zones, a rumbling volcano, and a massive ice cave you can explore.
African Village
Themed like a traditional East African village, this area is home to lemurs, meerkats, and a walk-through section where you can feed friendly sheep and goats.
Boj’s Giggly Park Play Area
Opened in 2017, Boj’s Giggly Park is a themed, multi-sensory play area designed for young children. Located next to the African Village, kids can meet CBeebies character ‘Boj’ and explore five interactive zones.
Discovery Trail
This all-weather walk-through trail features a variety of animal exhibits, interactive encounters, and engaging talks and shows.
Land of the Living Dinosaurs
Journey back in time to encounter over 40 life-size animatronic dinosaurs. As the UK’s largest dinosaur attraction, it showcases some of the most unique and fearsome creatures from history.
Adventure Theme Park
For even more excitement, the Adventure Theme Park offers a variety of rides for all ages, open daily from 11:30am during the summer season.
